Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the Perioperative Services team. You will assist in operating room procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse, supporting surgeons and anesthesiologists with sterile technique and instrumentation.

This fast-paced role offers schedules of 4/10s or 3/12s, a 6:30am start, and a $12,500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Surgical Technician license/certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews surgeon needs and ensures supplies and equipment are ready.
• Performs surgical scrub duties and assists with collection, identification and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over the room and returns supplies, instruments and equipment to proper location.

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
