Progress West Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, seeks a Surgical Technologist to assist operating room procedures under RN supervision and provide patient care for mothers and newborns.

The role supports deliveries, monitors vitals, and performs related tasks. Located in O’Fallon, MO, with a sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• <2 years or military equivalent experience.
• Surgical Technician certification.
• Accred Surgical Program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews surgeon needs and ensures supplies are ready.
• Performs surgical scrub duties and handles cultures and specimens.
• TURNS over room and ensures instruments and equipment are properly stored.

• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• 3/12's Hour Shifts; Every 3rd weekend; One Major and Minor Holiday.
• Hours: 6:30am-7:00pm
• Duties: Typical Surgical Technologist duties. Also, patient care on new mothers and infants including assistance in deliveries, taking vital signs on mothers and babies, performing testing on babies, and answering call lights, etc...

***$12,500 Sign on Bonus***

Overview

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care.

Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.

Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
