Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team in the main hospital. You will perform the scrub role, assist surgeons and nurses, and support in preparing the operating room for scheduled procedures. The ideal candidate completed a Surgical Technology program, holds CST certification, and maintains BLS.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Surgical Technology / Surgical Technician program.
• CST certified per NBSTSA or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• High School Diploma or GED within one year of hire.
• Prior OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique and sterile field.
• Prepare operating rooms with instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Anticipate the surgeon’s instrumentation and equipment needs during procedures.
• Assist the surgical team during routine and complex procedures with instruments and supplies.
• Ensure thorough instrument, sponge, and needle counts and room turnover.
