Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Surgical Technician at the Main Hospital in New Brunswick to join a high-performing perioperative team. You will scrub for procedures, support nurses, and help ensure safe, efficient patient care in a fast-paced OR environment.

Responsibilities include sterile field maintenance, room preparation, instrument handling, and collaboration with surgeons and staff to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• High School Diploma or GED within one year of hire.
• Preferred OR experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile field and aseptic technique.
• Prepares operating rooms, instruments, and supplies.
• Anticipates surgeon’s instrumentation and equipment needs during procedures.
• Assists surgical team during procedures with instrument handling and setup.
• Ensures instrument counts, specimen handling, and equipment care.
