Job summary

Dignity Health - Mercy Medical Center in Merced, California is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support safe, efficient procedures and maintain a sterile environment.

You will prepare the OR, pass instruments, and assist surgeons and nurses, while ensuring aseptic practices and patient safety. On-call shifts may be required, with emphasis on teamwork and meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Completion of Accredited Surgical Technologist program or CST designation.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (AST or NCCT) or equivalent certification.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Ability to take call shifts per unit policy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the OR, pass instruments, and maintain sterile field.
• Assist with patient positioning and specimen handling; ensure aseptic technique.
• Count sponges, sharps and instruments with nurse; ensure equipment readiness.
• Clean, re-sterilize, and stock supplies; support OR readiness for emergencies.
• Assist with orientation and participate in OR standards and policy updates.
