Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician in the Moakley Operating Room (Outpatient Surgery). The role provides patient care during procedures by maintaining an aseptic environment, prepping and sterilizing rooms, transporting patients, and assisting surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and staff.

The position requires graduation from a surgical technology program with a Surgical Technician certification and current BLS.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
• Surgical Technician certification required (unless employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prep and sterilize rooms for surgical procedures.
• Transport patients to and from the OR and assist during surgery.
• Pass instruments and assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other staff.
• Maintain sterile technique and aseptic environment.
• Use medical terminology accurately and communicate effectively.
