Shriners Children’s is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures and to prepare surgical services for proper suite setup. The role requires maintaining a sterile field and ensuring equipment readiness throughout cases.
Qualified candidates will have a Surgical Technologist certification, basic orthopedic knowledge, and BLS certification, with preference for at least six months in orthopedic surgery.

The Surgical Technician will have the opportunity to assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, as well as assist in preparation of surgical services to ensure suite setup is appropriate.
Competency to create and maintain a sterile field, providing equipment and supplies, performing sponge, sharps and instruments counts. Providing visualization of operative site Independently pulls cases utilizing preference sheets and OR special equipment lists. Updates, reviews lists makingchangesasnecessary.Reviewscases,andequipmentpriortostartofcase. Isscrubbedinandhasequipmentpriortopatient arrivingintotheORsuiteVerifyingefficacyofequipment, operating, maintainingandverifyingandrecordingefficacyofequipment Determinesanddocumentsefficiencyofequipment. Recordsreflectaccurate descriptionofoperations, sterilization, and use of equipment Familiarwithproperassembly, operation, and disassembly of all OR equipment and attends in-serviceonnew equipment Attendsin-serviceonnew equipment, completes competency evaluation successful in operation and maintaining equipment used within the department In-depth knowledgeof principles of sterile technique; General knowledge of anatomy, surgical procedures with emphasis on ourspecificprocedures.
The pay range for this position is $32.55 - $48.83/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
