Job summary

NAMSA in Minneapolis, MN seeks a Surgical Technician to support procedures in surgical and cath labs. You will prepare instruments, monitor anesthesia and vitals, administer medications intra-procedure, and assist with imaging equipment.

Qualified candidates typically hold a CVT or ALAT or an AS in veterinary tech, with 0–2 years of related experience. This is a hands-on role with lifting and exposure to clinical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline or Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology required.
• 0-2 years related work experience.
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or ALAT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical and cath lab suites for procedures, including setting up instruments and stocking study-specific supplies.
• Monitor anesthesia and animal vitals during surgical interventional procedures.
• Administer medications intra-procedure.
• Perform euthanasia.
• Collect laboratory samples, such as blood and urine, and process them for analysis.
• Assist with specialized software-driven equipment, fluoroscopy and 3D imaging, etc.
• Provide customer service to clients through professional interactions and by responding to client requests.
• Prepare and maintain surgical instruments through washing, drying and proper storage.
• Assemble surgical packs and process sterile packs via autoclave or ethylene oxide.
• Operate, clean and maintain gas anesthesia machines, autoclave and other surgical equipment routinely utilized.
• Maintain an efficient and clean work area by organizing and re-stocking cath labs, operating rooms, and the general storeroom as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
