NAMSA is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our animal care team in Minneapolis. You will dispense medications, perform routine clinical observations, collect data, and assist with study protocols in a Bio-Safety Level 2 environment.

You will monitor animals during recovery, perform blood draws, and support preventive health measures. Associates degree in veterinary tech or related experience is required; a CVT/ALAT is preferred. This is an on-site role with variable physical duties.

Qualifikationen

• Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology or 4 years of related experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline is preferred.
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or ALAT certification is preferred.

Aufgaben

• Dispenses medications as prescribed by veterinarian and/or protocol specifications.
• Performs and documents routine clinical observations, charting of physiological data and animal health status, and other study-related tasks.
• Administers start-up medications, monitors fasting and clinical observations.
• Monitors animals during recovery, including TPRs, auscultation, pain assessment, wound care and medication administration.
• Performs intravenous blood draws.
• Performs preventive health maintenance including vaccinations, anthelmintics, medications, grooming tasks and sedation as needed.
• Conducts veterinary care and husbandry per procedures and study protocols.
• Communicates with veterinary staff and study directors regarding animal health and living conditions.
• Assists with training newer large animal research technicians.
• Assists with other duties as assigned.

Ausbildung

Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology

Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or ALAT certification (preferred)
