Job summary

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required, or an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases, ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are organized and ready.
• Assists the surgical team by anticipating needs and passing instruments and supplies accurately.
• Handles instruments according to instructions for use and ensures sterilization, inspection, and assembly.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfer to ensure safety and comfort.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes surgical instruments and equipment following protocols.
• Contributes to perioperative team efficiency by restocking supplies and returning equipment to storage.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
