The role supports obstetric teams in maintaining a sterile environment, preparing for procedures, and providing safe patient care alongside nurses, physicians, and surgical staff.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technician or OB Technician program is required.
• 0–1 year of OB/Surgical Technician experience is required.
• 1–2 years in labor and delivery or obstetric surgery is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile aseptic technique during procedures and ensures proper gowning, gloving, and draping.
• Prepares the surgical field for cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries with organized instruments and supplies.
• Assists with positioning and room setup for obstetric and gynecologic procedures.
• Handles and labels specimens per hospital policy and laboratory standards.
• Operates, cleans, and sterilizes obstetric and surgical equipment following protocols.
• Performs errands to pharmacy, lab, and imaging to deliver supplies and specimens.
• Adheres to AORN and hospital infection control and safety standards.
• Maintains unit supplies and equipment for emergencies and scheduled procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
