Job summary

Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support the anesthesia team by preparing equipment and assisting with procedures. Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program preferred or equivalent training.
• College coursework in Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, or related fields preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician in hospital or surgical setting preferred.
• 1-2 years as an LVN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares anesthetizing locations by setting up, calibrating, and maintaining monitoring devices and anesthesia equipment for scheduled procedures.
• Assists anesthesia providers with sterile techniques during procedures, including airway management and IV or arterial line placement.
• Monitors and reports abnormal changes in patient vital signs to anesthesia providers.
• Obtains and stocks anesthesia supplies in operating rooms and other procedural areas.
• Assists with lab tests including ABGs and ACTs and other point-of-care tests.
• Prepares and delivers blood products and pharmaceuticals as requested by the anesthesia team.
• Provides guidance to other anesthesia technicians and team members as needed.
• Assists with patient transport, positioning, and monitor application under supervision.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and coordinates with repair departments for timely resolution.
• Maintains regular attendance and compliance with policies and standards.
