Job summary

Kennedy University Hospitals, Inc in Cherry Hill, New Jersey seeks a Certified Surgical Technician to support the intraoperative team. The CST creates and maintains the sterile field and anticipates the surgeon's needs by applying knowledge of procedures, anatomy and equipment.

You will assist with gowning, gloving, draping, and maintaining sterile field integrity; participate in timeouts, report to relief personnel, count sharps and supplies, and precept other team members.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a surgical technician training program.
• Knowledge of communicating respectfully with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Understanding of effective communication concepts and accurate information transfer.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply health and safety standards in the OR.

Responsibilities

• Inspects OR for cleanliness; prepares equipment, instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Participates in team time-out and supports patient safety.
• Assists with gowning, gloving and draping; maintains sterile field integrity.
• Counts sharps, sponges and instruments with the circulating nurse.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization; maintains supplies and equipment.
