Job summary

Kennedy University Hospitals, Inc. seeks a Certified Surgical Technician to support the intraoperative team, maintain the sterile field and anticipate surgeon needs.

The CST works across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases while ensuring patient safety and efficient OR operations. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, surgical technology training, BLS, and CST/TS-C credentials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; completion of a surgical technician program.
• Understanding of sterile technique and OR procedures.
• Knowledge of patient safety and infection control principles.
• Familiarity with equipment and supplies used in surgery.
• BLS certification; CST/TS-C credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes patients and families and supports a respectful care approach.
• Inspects OR for cleanliness and prepares equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Assists gowning/gloving and draping; maintains sterile field integrity.
• Counts sharps, sponges and instruments with circulating nurse; ensures sterilization readiness.
• Maintains supplies and a safe, clean environment; may precept other team members.
