Job summary

Dignity Health’s St. Joseph's Westgate Medical Center in Glendale, AZ is looking for a Surgical Technician to prepare the operating room and surgical team, set up instruments, and assist during procedures to help patients heal.

You will collaborate with circulating nurses, handle specimens per protocol, retrieve equipment, assist in patient preparation, and maintain a sterile environment to support safe, high‑quality care for all patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated adaptability and strong teamwork in a surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assists circulating nurses in set up of surgical procedure according to physician preference, standards of care and hospital protocol
• Handles laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol, maintaining hospital standard of zero tolerance for mishandled specimens
• Assists the Surgeon during procedures as requested
• Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies
• Assists in patient/equipment preparation
• Performs follow-up actions as directed
