Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare in Virginia is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist nursing and surgical teams under RN supervision, providing patient care across the operating room. The role supports the OR team with case prep and instrument handling to ensure high-quality care for patients of all ages.

Responsibilities include OR preparation, intraoperative instrument handling, aseptic technique, and meticulous processing of scopes and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Active BLS certification required.
• Virginia license as Surgical Technologist or CST preferred.
• Certification by NBSTSA preferred.
• One year inpatient hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review OR schedule and obtain patient information for each case.
• Assist in collecting necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Scrub and assess set-up prior to patient entering the surgical suite; restock to par levels.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon and maintain pace to keep surgery on schedule.
• Assist in patient positioning and OR turnover between cases; clean and decontaminate as needed.
• Ensure aseptic technique; perform instrument and material counts; process scopes and cameras.
