Job summary

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist the RN and surgeon during operative procedures in the Operating Room. Flexibility for shifts and on-call coverage may be required to support 24/7 operations.

The role reports to the Operating Room Manager and demands strict adherence to sterile technique and teamwork with the surgical staff.

Qualifications

• Certification in operating room technology is required.
• Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology.
• Basic arithmetic skills for record-keeping; high school level.
• 3–6 months of related experience preferred to learn sterile techniques.

Responsibilities

• Arranges and inventories sterile set up using asepsis and sterilization techniques.
• Assists in preparing and moving patients, cleaning and room set up.
• Provides a safe and efficient environment for the surgical patient under RN direction.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
