Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a non-certified Surgical Technologist at Westwood Medical Pavilion to support the perioperative team. You will assist with room setup, equipment preparation, patient positioning, and intraoperative support under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include maintaining instrument inventories, preparing and transporting supplies, and ensuring high-level disinfection and turnover between cases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Enrollment in an accredited nursing program with fundamentals completed, OR a Bachelor's degree in a health care or science field, OR 2 years surgical experience under RN.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to infection prevention standards and sets up table with instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Prepares equipment and assists RN with patient transport and positioning.
• Provides instruments and supplies to the physician during procedures.
• Performs pre-cleaning and transports instruments for sterilization, and conducts high-level disinfection when required.
• Oversees turnover of the room between cases and maintains inventory with Sterile Processing and Biomed teams.
• Coordinates with Radiation Oncology staff for intra-procedural imaging and calms/comforts patients as needed.
