Job summary

Froedtert Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for our newly renovated Ambulatory Surgery Center specializing in orthopedic and spine procedures. This role includes handling instruments and ensuring quality patient care with a schedule of day shifts with no weekends or holidays.

Qualified candidates will have at least 2 years of experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the necessary certifications.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
  • Competent in role as a Surgical Technologist with advanced knowledge.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.
  • Ensure quality patient care and maintenance of the sterile field.
  • Perform related duties to maintain department cost containment and efficiency.

Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. He/she will perform other related duties as needed to maintain department cost containment, efficiency, as well as quality performance.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

A minimum of 2 years of work experience as a Surgical Technologist is required. Is competent in role as a Surgical Technologist and displays advanced knowledge and ability to independently perform roles and tasks related to the field of surgical technology. Anticipates surgeons' needs and is acknowledged by staff as advanced in field. Multifunctional in all aspects of surgical technology. Ability to first assist is highly preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Post high school education, certification or diploma required. Completion of a Surgical Technologist program, completion of Military Operating Room Specialist course or the Froedtert Health sponsored apprentice II program required.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION

Certification as a Surgical Technologist. Surgical Technologist Level 3 staff, or above, with a date of hire or adjusted date of hire prior to 8/1/2020 are not required to be certified, as long as they meet the criteria in the job description. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
