Job summary

Froedtert Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist with instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures. You will help maintain a sterile field and ensure patient safety while supporting cost containment and efficiency in the department.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent, and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Post high school education, certification or diploma required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist program, completion of Military Operating Room Specialist course or the Froedtert Health sponsored apprentice II program required.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies and equipment during the surgical procedure and be attentive to the procedure.
• Maintain a sterile field and ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure.
• Support department cost containment, efficiency and quality performance.
• Perform related duties as needed to support the operating room team.

Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Has an understanding of the procedure being performed. Has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. He/she will perform other related duties as needed to maintain department cost containment, efficiency, as well as quality performance.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Is competent in role as a Surgical Technologist and displays knowledge and ability to independently perform roles and tasks related to the field of surgical technology.

A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Post high school education, certification or diploma required.

Completion of a Surgical Technologist program, completion of Military Operating Room Specialist course or the Froedtert Health sponsored apprentice II program required.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
