Job summary

Eisenhower Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to perform scrub duties, prepare supplies, and maintain a sterile field for procedures in the EDOSC Surgery department. This role requires strong aseptic technique and teamwork in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program, and certification or eligible status. BLS and two years of experience in an acute multispecialty environment are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or higher if hired after January 1, 2025.
• Successful completion of accredited Surgical Technology training program or five years of additional Surgical Technologist experience in lieu of completion of training program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist if hired after January 1, 2025; American Heart Association BLS.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies; report suspected violations.
• Maintains aseptic technique according to department policies.
• Anticipates surgeon’s needs by reviewing preference cards and procuring supplies before start of case.
• Prepares supplies, room setup and equipment for cases; maintains instrument table and surgical field.
• Verifies and labels medications and irrigations with nurse.
• Maintains accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the nurse.
• Identifies surgical specimens and transfers to the nurse.
• Prepares instruments for cleaning and re-sterilization and restocks room.
• Provides leadership for unit-level safety/quality projects.
• Considers cost containment and waste reduction in room usage.
