Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team before, during, and after procedures. You will assist with room setup, instrument handling, and aseptic technique to ensure patient safety and efficient care.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from a college or technical school.
• Three to six months related experience and/or training.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Utilize aseptic techniques and standard precautions; follow medication and specimen handling policies.
• Assist with preparing, positioning and draping patients; participate in the surgical pause to ensure correct patient and site.
• Understand and adapt to surgeon preference and patient care variables; help update surgeon preference materials.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument count.
• Care for and utilize resources to promote cost-effective and efficient patient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
