Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Surgical First Assistant program OR Medical School Graduate OR allied health professional with 2250 hours of surgical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assist before, during, and after surgical procedures by providing retraction and tissue manipulation.
• Assist in ligation, tissue approximation, clamp and electrocautery application.
• Aid in patient preparation, positioning, casts or tourniquet application.
• Apply surgical dressings and drainage; may close wounds for the surgeon.
• Assist the RN with technical functions in the OR.
