Job summary

Orlando Health ORMC is seeking a qualified Scrub Tech III/First Assistant to support surgeon during operations. Responsibilities include sterile technique, instrument handling, and assisting with exposure and wound closure under surgeon supervision.

The candidate should have a Surgical Technology program graduate, a First Assistant training course, and certifications (CST/Tech in Surgery) with at least three years of recent cardiac/open heart surgical tech experience.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate required.
• Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program required.
• Successful completion of accredited First Assistant training course required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates sterile technique and uses specialized instrumentation for surgeries.
• Anticipates needs and assists the surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains specimens for pathology evaluation.
• Assists with supplies and instrument counts as directed.
• Positions and drapes patient; exposes surgical field and assists as needed.
