Responsibilities

• Demonstrates sterile techniques and uses specialized instrumentation for various procedures.
• Anticipates and prioritizes needs of procedure steps.
• Participates in sponge, needle and instrument counts.
• Maintains surgical specimens for pathology evaluation.
• Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under guidelines.
• Performs under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon.
• Collaborates with circulating nurse and surgical team.
• Assists with positioning, draping, clamping, suturing and wound closure as directed.
