Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. You will prepare the operating suite, hand instruments to surgeons, and assist with patient positioning and draping during procedures.

Schedule is 7am-5:30pm, four 10-hour shifts with call included, and there are generous benefits as part of our comprehensive health system. UAB Medicine is committed to delivering safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider preferred; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency and completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year neuro or cardiac experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.

Education

High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component
