Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita perioperative team. The role supports surgeons and the team by preparing sterile fields, passing instruments, and ensuring adherence to infection control standards throughout procedures.

The position emphasizes collaboration, attention to detail, and reliable attendance. A technical school or associate degree in surgical technology is required, with 0–2 years OR experience preferred,

Qualifications

• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and aseptic techniques.
• Strong understanding of sterilization methods and infection prevention practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases, ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are organized and sterile.
• Assists the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies accurately and efficiently.
• Handles surgical instruments and ensures proper sterilization, inspection, and assembly.
• Performs counts with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfer methods to ensure safety and comfort.
• Maintains physician preference cards to ensure accurate supplies for procedures.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes instruments following protocols.
• Restocks supplies and ensures the OR is ready for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
