Job summary

Northwest Tucson Surgery Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team during procedures. The role involves preparing sterile fields, passing instruments, ensuring instrument counts, and maintaining infection prevention standards to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate has a Surgical Technology background (Technical School or Associate Degree) and 0–2 years OR experience, with BCLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required or
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases with proper aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies accurately.
• Ensures sterilization, inspection, and assembly of instruments.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfers to ensure safety.
• Maintains physician preference cards and ensures available supplies.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes instruments per protocols.
• Restocks supplies and readies OR for subsequent cases.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
