Description:This position provides specialized scrub support for complex cardiac, congenital, hybrid, transcatheter, and robotic-assisted procedures.The role manages cardiac instrumentation, implants, grafts, valves, and devices while anticipating the needs of the surgeon and multidisciplinary OR team.Clinicians will rotate between 1st call and 2nd call responsibilities.Call begins at the end of the scheduled workday and continues until the following morning.The Cardiac Specialty Surgical Technologist serves as the primary scrub technologist for complex cardiac and congenital heart procedures.The role involves preparing and managing specialized cardiac instruments, implants, grafts, valves, and devices.Setting up and maintaining the sterile field is a key responsibility.The individual will perform surgical counts and participate in the surgical time-out.Specimen handling will be conducted according to hospital policy.Collaboration with cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, perfusionists, anesthesia providers, and other surgical staff is essential.Support for cardiopulmonary bypass, hybrid OR, cardiac catheterization, and robotic procedures is expected as applicable.Maintaining physician preference cards and ensuring equipment and supplies are ready for scheduled cases is important.The technologist must anticipate procedural needs and respond calmly and independently during complex or emergent cardiac procedures.Strict adherence to sterile technique, patient safety standards, and cardiac-specific protocols must be maintained.This position is an immediate fill due to the need to prevent disruption to scheduled cardiac surgeries.Candidates must confirm cardiac OR experience, current certifications, full availability for the duration of the contract, and willingness to participate in the alternating call requirement before applying.
