Job summary

Herzing University is seeking a Faculty Clinical Coordinator for Surgical Technology to oversee clinical preceptors and site accreditation across Atlanta and online divisions. The role focuses on coordinating clinical sites, training preceptors, and ensuring documentation aligns with accreditation standards.

Responsibilities include site selection, scheduling, and collaboration with program administration to optimize student clinical experiences.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Credential in surgical technology through a national certification program.
• At least 3 years of operating room scrub or teaching experience in surgical technology within the last 5 years.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with students, alumni, faculty, and employer partners.
• Experience teaching hands-on skills to new surgical technologists or students.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills; ability to convey ideas to individuals and groups.
• Knowledge of programmatic accreditation and regulatory standards established by CAAHEP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify, select, contract with, monitor, and evaluate all clinical sites; maintain site criteria and contract documentation.
• Visit clinical sites at least once per rotation to ensure support for a comprehensive experience.
• Establish clinical schedules and evaluate student learning experiences with the program admin.
• Place students for internship/practicum in coordination with the course coordinator.
• Advise the program administrator on industry trends, statistics, and recommendations.
• Provide recommendations on competency and clinical management skills of clinical faculty and compliance with site policies.
• Participate in program planning and campus decision-making processes.
• Ensure timely completion and submission of required reports related to clinical experiences.
• Engage in partner relations and professional associations to build connections in the community.
• Provide orientation, training, and development guidance to faculty and students regarding clinical sites.
• Assist in evaluation and training of clinical instructors and advise on equipment needs.
• Support course meetings to ensure clinical settings meet course needs and objectives.
