Job summary

Carondelet St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson, AZ seeks a Surgical Technologist to facilitate safe, efficient procedures in the operating room. Responsibilities include preparing the sterile field, passing instruments, assisting the surgeon, and maintaining instrument counts.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and completion of a Surgical Technologist program; BLS is required, CST preferred. A sign-on bonus up to $10,000 is available based on eligibility.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED.
• Completion of Surgical Technologist program from an accredited facility.
• Ability to work variable shifts, holidays, and weekends.
• Must be able to take call rotation when required.
• Must be able to lift and transfer with proper mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes, solutions, and instruments.
• Hand required instruments to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with patient preparation, transport, positioning, and draping.
• Maintain and count instruments throughout procedures.
• Organize and stock OR and C-section suites; dispose of sharps and waste properly.
• Report changes in patient condition to RN or LPN promptly.

Job Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

• Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well asappropriatesterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hands required/requested instruments and supplies tosurgeonduring surgery.
• Assistswith preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracksinstruments countsthroughout procedures.
• Placesequipment and supplies in the operatingor labor & deliveryroomsand arranges instruments according to preference cards.Cleansand checksequipmentarea.
• Handsinstruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other technical tasks as directed by surgeon during operation.Orders, stocks, andmaintainssupplies for theOR andC-section suites.
• Organizesinpreparation for end of case andassistsincleanup and turnover of rooms.Disposesof all sharps, biohazardous waste items appropriately.Handlesspecimens properly.
• Reportsobservations of changes inpatient’sconditions and level of consciousness to an RN or LPNin a timely manner.

• Minimum Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED. Completion of Surgical Technologists course from an accredited facility.
  • Experience
    • Must be able to work variable shifts,holidaysand/or weekends.
    • Must be able to take call rotation when required.
    • Must be able to perform all duties, including lifting and transferring, using proper body mechanics.

    • Knowledgeof hospital environment desired.
    • Previoushospital and/or health care related experience preferred
  • Licensure/Certifications: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist)
