Job summary

UVA Health in Charlottesville seeks a Surgical Support Technician (SST) for the UVA Orthopedic Center. This hands-on, entry-level role supports the perioperative team and helps ensure operating rooms are safe, prepared, and efficiently staffed.

You will work alongside surgeons, nurses, and techs in a fast-paced environment, gaining exposure to advanced perioperative services and a structured onboarding program.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 0 years of experience (1 year preferred).
• BLS certification within 2 months of hire; CNA or EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down operating rooms for each case.
• Clean and disinfect OR surfaces and equipment per infection control standards.
• Sort and dispose of contaminated materials per hospital guidelines.
• Transport patients to/from surgical areas, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Stock supplies, maintain equipment, and support efficient room turnover.
