UVA Health is seeking Surgical Support Technicians (SST) to support the UVA Orthopedic Center, a specialized outpatient surgical environment focused on delivering exceptional orthopedic care. This is an entry-level friendly role with onboarding and on-the-job training.

The SST role involves preparing and breaking down operating rooms, disinfecting surfaces, transporting patients, stocking supplies, and collaborating with a high‑calm perioperative team to ensure patient safety and efficient

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• 0 years of experience (1 year preferred)
• BLS within 2 months of hire. CNA or EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down operating rooms to ensure readiness for each surgical case
• Clean and disinfect OR surfaces and equipment following infection control standards
• Sort and dispose of contaminated materials per hospital guidelines
• Transport patients to and from surgical areas while providing comfort and observing safety needs
• Stock supplies, maintain equipment, and support efficient room turnover
• Work cooperatively with the surgical team in a high acuity, time sensitive environment
