Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Surgical Support Technician to assist in operating room operations, ensure sterile supplies, and maintain inventory for smooth surgical workflows.

The role involves pre-surgery prep, turnover management, and ensuring availability of necessary supplies in a fast-paced hospital environment. Prior healthcare exposure is valued; BLS is required or obtained within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Education: HS Diploma or GED.
• Experience: Less than 1 year in healthcare or related field.
• Certification/License: BLS required or to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Clean surfaces and equipment in OR and decontaminate as needed.
• Transport patients, lab samples, and supplies as required.
• Manage inventory: monitor levels, restock, and order supplies.
• Check supplies for surgeries and restock case carts as per doctor preferences.
• Open sterile supplies for procedures under clinician supervision.
• Prepare instrument sets and perform flash sterilization tests.
• Respond to emergencies; follow procedures and complete on-call duties.
• Earlier hires may have roles related to retractors during surgery.
