Job summary

Lakes Surgery Center in West Bloomfield, MI seeks a Surgical Technologist (Non-Certified) PRN to join our operating room team. The successful candidate will scrub in ophthalmology and other specialties, assist surgeons and nurses, and help prepare the OR and patient for procedures.

The role requires BLS certification and preferred 2 years of clinical experience. Prior scrub experience in ophthalmology/cataract cases is highly valued. This is a PRN position with on-call and shift variation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred but not required.
• Must have BLS Certification.
• Preferred 2 years of clinical experience as a surgical technologist.
• Must have experience with scrubbing Ophthalmology/Cataract cases, as well as other specialties.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
• Prepares operating room by setting up instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions.
• Tends to patient during pre-operation procedures and follows safety protocols.
• Pre-operation skin prep and equipment checks.
• Assembles sterile and non-sterile equipment and ensures proper function.
• Gets patients ready for surgery and assists with positioning and draping.
• Monitors vitals and assists the team with gowns and gloves.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants.
• Supports specimen handling and post-op room turnover.
• Operates sterilizers, lights, suction, and diagnostic equipment.
