Job summary

USPI Desert Ridge Outpatient Surgery Center in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a PRN Surgical Scrub Technologist to support the operating room team. Ophthalmology experience is preferred; no new graduates at this time.

The role focuses on maintaining sterile technique, assisting the circulating nurse, instrument counts, and preparing supplies for procedures in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a Scrub Technician Program is required; certification preferable.
• Two years experience as a Scrub Tech preferred.
• General familiarity with medical terminology related to anatomy and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile field during surgical procedures and set up supplies.
• Assist circulating nurse and surgical team to maintain a sterile environment.
• Gather necessary surgical supplies and equipment as needed.
• Perform counts of sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and intra-operatively.
• Gown and glove surgeons and assistants; update physician preference cards as needed.
• Transport equipment and assist with cleaning/reprocessing of instruments.
