Job summary

The Surgical Scrub Technician II at CHOC works under the direct supervision of the registered nursing staff, physician/surgeon and anesthesia team to act as a primary scrub person, handling instruments and supplies during endoscopic and surgical procedures.

You will anticipate physician needs, set up equipment for procedures in the OR and Procedure Center, and may precept new technicians and students. Shifts are 5 days a week with on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Required: Minimum two years of Surgical Technician experience.
• Preferred: Two years of Operating Room experience.
• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Graduate of Surgical Technology program or military service training.
• Required: Endoscopy orientation program or surgery orientation program.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Preferred: OR TechNTL Certification or Certified Surgical Tech.

Responsibilities

• Assist in endoscopic and surgical procedures; handle instruments and supplies.
• Anticipate needs of the physician/surgeon and ensure safe, quality patient care.
• Set up equipment in the Procedure Center/OR according to patient needs and surgeon's preference.
• May precept new Technicians and students; participate in on-call duties.
