Job summary

Qualifications

• Completed an accredited surgical technology program with CST certification within 6 months of hire.
• If not certified at hire, must obtain CST within 18 months per CT rules.
• Provide documentation of prior surgical technologist experience if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgical team as primary scrub, handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures.
• Verifies patient identification and ensures necessary instrumentation, supplies, equipment, and implants are ready.
• Adheres to aseptic practices to protect patients and prevent surgical site infections.
• Demonstrates problem solving during procedures and responds to emergencies or changes.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and maintains focus on instrument handling during surgery.
• Ensures correct counts of sponges and sharps and proper labeling of specimens.
• Cross-trains and rotates to other Perioperative Services areas as needed.
