Job summary

Covenant HealthCare is hiring a Surgical Services Medical Assistant to manage case scheduling electronically and support clinical tasks under RN supervision. The role emphasizes accurate record-keeping, patient interaction, and adherence to HIPAA and safety standards.

Responsibilities include scheduling across operating rooms and endoscopy, maintaining surgeon privileges, and communicating issues promptly to the Scheduling Specialist or Manager. Strong Word skills and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with completion of a nurse aide, medical assistant or home health aide program.
• Experience with medical terminology and surgical services scheduling preferred.
• Strong organization and attention to detail; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in posting cases to the surgery schedule and coordinate with offices.
• Schedule procedures for OR, treatment, procedure, and endoscopy rooms.
• Maintain current surgeon privileges knowledge and communicate updates timely.
• Collect patient data, perform vitals, and transport or position patients.
• Document patient care observations accurately in the electronic record.
• Support quality management and regulatory safety requirements.
• Provide excellent customer service and professional patient interactions.
