Job summary

Cayuga Health System in Ithaca, NY is seeking a Patient Service Representative/Surgical Scheduler to support scheduling, patient check-in, and front-desk coordination. The role combines clinical and clerical duties to ensure seamless care delivery.

You will manage surgical schedules, verify demographics and insurance, collect co-pays, and assist with pre-authorization and daily cash out. Onsite, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a focus on excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.
• College level training/education in a healthcare support field preferred.
• Previous EMR use/training helpful.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures and ensure all items are obtained for the scheduled procedure.
• Back up prior authorization for surgeries.
• Check in patients upon arrival.
• Verify/update patient demographics.
• Obtain & scan insurance cards; verify eligibility.
• Obtain signatures on required forms (HIPAA).
• Collect outstanding balances and co-pays.
• Assist with scheduling labs, x-rays, procedures or testing; send orders.
• Take messages or triage phone calls.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Maintain provider schedule utilization.
• Check out patient; daily cash out.
