Job summary

Southeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Full-Time Surgical Scheduler to join SGPA Gastroenterology in Brunswick, GA. The scheduler posts surgical cases, verifies codes, and coordinates with physicians, patients, and Surgical Services to ensure timely operations.

This on-site role requires 1–3 years of secretarial experience in a medical office, strong computer skills, and familiarity with medical terminology and coding.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: 1–3 years of secretarial experience; clerical experience in medical or business office preferred.
• Knowledge, skills, & abilities: computer literacy, medical terminology, medical coding, office equipment operation, and basic bookkeeping

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical posting sheets with procedure, codes and instrumentation.
• Check medical necessity via current software for payor requirements.
• Obtain required treatment authorizations from payors.
• Post surgical procedures with Surgical Services and inform patients of surgery times.
• Manage daily surgical schedules for each surgeon and communicate with offices and services.
• Coordinate with equipment/instrument representatives for cases.
• Operate computer, telephone, and fax systems.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and practice information.
• Collaborate with other Health System departments as needed.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional behavior in all interactions.
