Job summary

OrthoArizona is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate surgeries and keep physicians’ calendars up to date. You will communicate with patients, staff, and physicians, verify records, and arrange equipment and anesthesia as needed.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of medical terminology, strong communication skills, and experience with practice management software. You will also help train new staff and ensure SOPs are followed.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understand and train on practice management software.
• Continue to expand knowledge of the software as updates occur.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify information and records in patient medical records.
• Coordinate equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia for surgeries.
• Maintain physician calendars.
• Answer calls, screen messages, and return patient calls promptly.
• Prepare surgical packet materials.
• Assist in training and orienting new staff.

As a Surgery Scheduler with OrthoArizona, you will get to:

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify necessary information and records information in patient's medical record.
• Coordinate necessary equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia relative to surgeries.
• Maintain and updates physician's calendars.
• Answer telephone, screens calls, clears voicemail, returns patient calls in a timely manner.
• Prepare surgical packet materials.
• Assist in training and orienting of new staff.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
• Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience surgery scheduling.
