Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Gainesville, FL is hiring a Medical Assistant to support surgical scheduling and related administrative tasks. Responsibilities include scheduling procedures, pre/post-op visits, completing medical clearances, and managing calls and paperwork with courteous patient service.
The ideal candidate has a Medical Assistant diploma, surgical coordination experience, and proficiency in Excel and Word, plus solid medical terminology knowledge and strong organization
The Medical Assistant who holds the Surgical Scheduler position will be responsible for performing secretarial duties for physician, which includes, scheduling surgical procedures (in office, outpatient, inpatient), scheduling pre- and post-op appointments, medical clearances, orders for medical supplies and DME, obtaining surgical benefits, authorizations for surgery and collections of pre-surgery deposits. The Surgical Scheduler will manage all incoming calls, questions, faxes, and emails related to surgery and back up the Medical Assistants in clinic rooming patients, entering orders, etc. as needed.

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Bilingual is preferred.
