Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking Mechatronics Systems Integration Interns to join the Robotics R&D team in Santa Clara, CA. The role focuses on hands-on development, integration, and testing of surgical robotic platforms, with collaboration across mechanical, electrical, software, and clinical engineering domains.

You will contribute to prototyping, testing, and production support for next-gen robotic systems aimed at improving patient outcomes worldwide.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or similar
• Must plan to return to an academic program after internship
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week)
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Must have work authorization in the United States during hire and employment
• Internship dates: June 1–August 20, 2027 or June 21–September 10, 2027

Responsibilities

• Support system/subsystem-level surgical robotics development, integration, and testing
• Identify root cause and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, software, and robotic controls domains
• Characterize and de-risk the design from prototype to subsystem level
• Develop new test methods and fixtures for system/subsystem integration, test, and calibration
