Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovation is seeking Electrical Engineering Interns in Santa Clara, CA, to join Robotics R&D. You will design, build, and test PCAs for surgical robotics, working with cross-disciplinary teams to prototype solutions that advance medical devices.

The role emphasizes hands-on prototyping, documentation, and collaboration with mentors to ensure robust hardware development and support for clinical assessments.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or similar degree and returning to an academic program after the completion of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prototype PCAs for robotic elements, subsystems and testing fixtures.
• Deliver documentation to support PCA designs in medical devices, including reviews and test results.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to create reliable robotic designs.
• Test, debug, and perform root cause analysis during bench tests and system integration.
• Generate and present design concepts and participate in design reviews.
• Participate in clinical assessments of robotic devices using inanimate models.
