Job summary

The RN First Assist at Carle Health provides perioperative nursing care, supports the surgeon, and ensures readiness of instruments and supplies for each procedure. This role involves independent nursing behaviors in perioperative assessment and postoperative care, alongside collaboration with the OR team.

Qualified candidates are licensed RNs with CNOR and BLS, completed RNFA training, and at least two years of perioperative nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse with CNOR certification.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Completion of an accredited RNFA program.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries with readiness of trays and supplies.
• Provide patient care and support throughout perioperative care.
• Administer medications during procedures and postoperative care.
• Perform surgical tasks such as controlling bleeding, suturing, draping, and tissue handling.
• Position the patient and monitor vital signs during operations.
