Job summary

IU Health North Hospital in Carmel, IN, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join a fast-paced surgical unit with advanced robotic support. The role involves preparing ORs, assisting surgeons, and ensuring sterile, ready instruments for procedures.

Weekend day shift from 6:30am to 7:00pm with one additional weekday day; requires NBSTSA certification, BLS, high school diploma, and 1+ year experience. You will be part of a collaborative team delivering high-quality perioperative care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• 17 continuing education units annually required.
• Completion of perioperative training modules or facility preceptor training.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a surgical technologist role or equivalent.
• Ability to stock, instrument, and assist with advanced technology in cases.
• Knowledge of surgical instrument names and functions.
• Strict adherence to sterile technique and policies.
• Complete of application and recommendations per Advancement Process.

Responsibilities

• Provide service before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Ensure presence and proper arrangement of equipment and instrumentation in the OR.
• Assist the surgeon and OR team as allowed by standards.
• Assist in turnover of the OR and processing of specimens.

This is a special weekend option working weekend day shift from 6:30am-7:00pm with one additional day during the week.

Surgical Resource Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA.
• Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
• Requires 17 continuing education units annually.
• Requires successful completion of Perioperative Services Preceptor class and/or completion of 4 precepting eLMS modules and/or facility based preceptor training.
• Requires a minimum of 1 year experience in the Skilled Technologist role or relevant experience.
• Must be able to resource to other staff who are utilizing advanced technology in cases, including knowledge of the types of instruments utilized, what cases utilize different technologies, etc.
• Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
• Requires completion of application and recommendations as prescribed in Advancement Process.
