Job summary

Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana, invites applications for a Surgical Technologist to join our OR team. This full-time night-shift role runs 7:00 pm–7:00 am, three 12-hour shifts, with holiday and call requirements.

We operate 16 cutting-edge ORs across General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Plastics, ENT, Cardiovascular, and Neurosurgery. As part of the surgical team, you will assist before, during, and after procedures, ensure sterile technique, support the surgeon, and

Qualifications

• Requires CST certification from NBSTSA within four months of employment.
• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Requires the ability to resource advanced technology in the OR.
• Requires 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
• Requires knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate the surgeon's needs.
• Requires knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation and sterile field adherence.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the OR.
• Assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional standards.
• Assist in turnover of the OR after procedures and quality control of specimens, equipment, and supplies.
• Work as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, RNs and other staff.
• Maintain adherence to policies and regulations regarding sterile technique.

Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.Requires a High School Diploma/GED.

• Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.
