Job description

Overview

Paoli Hospital is a rural community hospital offering personalized care in a supportive environment. We have 2 operating rooms and 1 endoscopy suite, providing a wide range of services including endoscopy, general surgery, gynecology, and obstetrics. We are looking for dedicated professionals to join our team and contribute to the health and well-being of our community.

This is a part-time position working 24 hours weekly. Hours are 6:30am - 3:00pm with rotating days between Monday-Friday. On call required (holidays included).

Surgical Enhanced Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. They assist in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. They provide assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. They assist in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure, ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. They work as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel. They train colleagues on various skills and tasks and act as a resource or mentor to colleagues with less experience.

  • Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA.
  • Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Must be an expert in advanced technology within the specialty service (examples include lasers, robotics, navigational technology, Implantable Electronic Devices such as pacemakers, VADs, VNS, etc.).
  • Requires documentation of 19 Contact Hours of Continuing Education.
  • Requires knowledge of the name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
  • Requires completion of selected documentation for review by the region’s Surgical Technologist Steering Committee and an interview with the committee.
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year OR experience in the Skilled Technologist role or relevant experience.
