HCA Healthcare through MSO - FPS North Texas Division seeks a Pathologists' Assistant to assist pathologists in surgical pathology services. This role organizes workflow in frozen section and gross areas and works with on-site pathologists to set priorities and ensure quality assessments.

The incumbent will triage specimens, dictate gross findings, and coordinate specialized procedures while maintaining records and supporting teaching activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Masters in Pathologists’ Assistant highly preferred.
• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred
• 3-5 years’ grossing experience in a hospital setting accepted in lieu of ASCP Certification or master's degree

Responsibilities

• Organize and improve workflow in frozen section and gross examination areas.
• Collaborate with on-site pathologists to determine grossing priorities.
• Take instruction from pathologists on grossing technique and quality assessment.
• Confer with other pathologist assistants to boost productivity and knowledge.
• Triage specimens, dictate gross findings, and refer tissue sections for review.
• Identify tissue for microscopic study and determine fixation methods.
• Perform frozen sections and decalcification; coordinate special procedures.
• Maintain records of dissections and dictation; assist in report compilation.
• Photograph specimens for instruction and documentation; keep records of photos.
• Perform microscopy for conferences and teaching; maintain complete records.
• Perform related duties and adhere to Code of Conduct and Mission statements.
